A prize that is exclusively Apple
Apple has created a series of awards to celebrate the extraordinary craftsmanship that is essential for music creation. Each award features Apple's custom silicone insert suspended between a polished glass sheet and an anodized machined aluminum body. The cookies start out as a perfect 12-inch nanometer-level silicone disc. Copper layers are deposited and standardized by ultraviolet lithography to create connections between billions of transistors. The result of this multi-month process, before being split into hundreds of individual chips, is impressive and distinctive. In a symbolic gesture, the same chips that power the devices that put the world's music at your fingertips are at the heart of the Apple Music Awards.
